Tony Wright Obtains Airline Transport Certificate
Thursday, September 30th, 2010Our senior pilot, Capt. Tony Wright, has obtained his Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate. With just the addition of the appropriate type rating, Tony is now qualified to fly large transport aircraft for the general public. The ATP certificate involves obtaining extensive experience in cross country and instrument flying as well as a check ride with an FAA representative to standards that are higher than the basic commercial pilot license.
Although the aircraft that American Business Airways currently operates do not require an ATP, Tony is demonstrating his commitment to ABA’s policy of striving to operate far in excess of the FAA requirements. The ATP check ride involves operating the airplane under instrument conditions and demonstrating command authority during normal and abnormal operations. Although we always train to ATP standards, we are proud of Tony’s accomplishments and appreciate his dedication to safety and customer service.
Next time you see Tony, please congratulate him for a job very well done.
